Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data Palier collects, why, how long we keep it and how to exercise your rights.

The data we collect

• Your account: name, email address and password (stored in encrypted form, never in plain text). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, your email address and your profile picture.
• Your goal: your target NCLC and the date of your exam, if you provide them.
• Your practice: your attempts, answers, scores, simulator drafts and writing, their corrections, your favourites and the topics marked “worked on”.
• Your messages: what you write to us through the contact form, and your email address if you join a waiting list.
• Technical data: your IP address, used to limit abusive attempts and protect the service, and technical logs.

We do not sell any data and do no targeted advertising.

Why we use it

• To provide the service: create your account, save your progress, correct your writing (performance of the contract).
• To secure the service: prevent abuse and fraudulent access (legitimate interest).
• To reply to you and notify you when an offer opens, if you asked us to (your request).
• To measure audience, only with your consent (consent).

Our partners' codes

Some discount codes are offered by Palier partners (teachers, language centres, content creators). The first time you use a partner's code (at sign-up, through their link, on the “I have a code” page or at payment), your account is linked to them, and you are told so before you confirm: this partner can then follow your progress and purchases on Palier (your name, your email address, your sets and scores, your estimated NCLC, your recent activity, and the offer, amount, date and status of your payments). They never see your payment number. The partner earns a commission on your payments for 12 months after the link. The link is permanent; write to us with any question.

Automatic correction of your writing

The texts you write in the simulator are sent to an artificial intelligence provider to be corrected. They are sent without your name or your email address, together with the instructions only. The correction is indicative and does not replace the official mark.

Our processors

• Hosting: Contabo GmbH (Allemagne).
• Media storage and delivery: Cloudflare.
• Automatic correction: Anthropic, Google or Groq, depending on the service configuration.
• Sending emails: our transactional email provider.
• Payment: our payment providers (card and Mobile Money), who receive the amount and, depending on the method chosen, the Mobile Money number or the card details entered on their site.
• Sign-in with Google: Google, if you choose this sign-in method.
• Audience measurement: Umami, if you accept it.

Some of these providers may process data outside the European Union, with the safeguards provided by the regulations (standard contractual clauses).

How long we keep it

• Account and practice data: as long as your account exists. They are erased when you delete it.
• Contact messages: 3 years after the last exchange.
• Waiting lists: until the offer opens, then 1 year at most.
• Technical logs: 12 months at most.
• AI usage data: kept without any link to your account after it is deleted.

Your rights

You can access your data, correct it, erase it, restrict its processing, object to it and ask for a copy (portability). You can delete your account at any time from My account, Security: deletion is permanent. For a copy of your data, write to us.

You can also lodge a complaint with the data protection authority of your country.
